Brief description
This week-long seminar seeks to give high school seniors an intense introduction to the field of philosophy. More specifically, the goal is for students to understand more deeply the reasons for traditional views about God, man, and morality, and to be able to explain these reasons to others. As a result of the seminar, students will be able to reason correctly about important contemporary themes, such as objective truth vs. relativism and the relationship of freedom with truth, conscience, and authority.
Students will attend daily lectures and discussions led by Professor David Gallagher, former professor of Ethics at the Catholic University of America. Participants will read and analyze selected writings of Aristotle and other thinkers.
In addition to the classes, the workshop will provide time for sports and outside speakers. Daily mass, times of prayer and confessions will also be available.
