The Tenley Seminars

The Tenley High School Seminars are geared to provide young men with the vision they need to take a broader view of their current studies and future professional work, seeing them in terms of service to God, service to others, and service to society. Hard work well done, inspired with the ideals of service and sacrifice, can thus become a noble adventure. Tenley Study Center’s more than thirty years of experience shows that young men benefit greatly from meeting and collaborating with older professional men who are willing to pass on advice and insights gained in the course of their work, studies, and family lives. The seminars are designed with just that in mind; inspiring young men with the example of dedicated professionals who view their work as an opportunity to serve.

The Freshman Achievement Seminar
A Roadmap for the Future

The Freshman seminar strives to impart to students a sense of “the big picture” of the their lives. By engaging its participants in a discussion of their future, the seminar helps them to think about what kind of fathers, friends, citizens, and professionals they want to be when they reach adulthood. The seminar also addresses particular personal and social challenges they may face along the way to adulthood and imparts practical advice concerning the attainment of shorter term goals. Some of these practical topics are study skills, the choice of extra-curricular activities, the importance of good friendships, and high school as a preparation for college life.

The Sophomore Career Orientation Seminar
The Spectrum of Professional Life

This Seminar introduces students to diverse career paths. A wide range of experienced professionals talk to the participants about their particular lines of work: the education and preparation needed to begin, the daily duties and activities encountered, and the interesting challenges and opportunities that arise. The Seminar alternates sessions spent introducing students to these occupations and the talks from the professionals themselves. This combination helps students to become aware of the various ways that they can serve society and support their families in the future. It also encourages them to take their current studies seriously as preparation for a challenging and fruitful professional career.
